If yoga was a competitive sport, the Life Centre would win hands down. It’s the kind of place that makes you want to live in Notting Hill – suddenly all that pre-mummy competitive blood starts coursing through your veins.
Until you’ve done the Mummy and Baby Yoga Class, that is. After the class, you’ll find yourself calm, collected and ready for World Peace - thoroughly contented with your lot in life. (Lesson learned – Good sports are winners too.)
At the Life Centre, they’ve thought about your mummy and baby needs. Ahead of time. Park your bugaboo on old mats that are lined up on the studio floor. Yoga mats (in good condition) are set up, each with a clean and fresh towel. The class is lead by the lovely Tara Lee who takes mums through stretches and yoga poses which not only help relieve tension, they entertain the little yogini too. After a good work-out, plenty of time is spent exercising and enjoying baby. (Lesson learned – Preparation pays off.)
And afterwards you’ll be breathing well and ready for that 100m sprint to your car … seconds ahead of that pesky little parking attendant. (Lesson learned – A stitch in time (or on your left side) saves nine(ty quid).)
Classes are on a Monday from 11:30 to 12:45 and at £12 per session, this is not just a lesson in tranquility and deep breathing, it teaches about real quality and the value of money. The Life Centre, 15 Edge Street, London W8 7PN, tel. 020 7221 4602.
Child’s Pose – What Mini says:
I’m not sure what happened at yoga, but once we left she was unusually calm. She even smiled at a parking attendant. (Lesson
learned – A picture is worth a thousand words.)
Oh, and as we left I’m sure we saw Kate Moss parked outside …
